The Office
of General Education and Innovative
Electronic Learning is a department
responsible for the instructional
management of General Education Courses.
The office is now located at 1st floor
of Building no. 34. Its background is as
follows;
On 17 September 1999, the
Mass Education Bureau was firstly
established with the purposes of being a
division supporting the educational
operation using suitable Information
Communication Technology based on the
goal of National Education Act of B.E.
2542 and the manpower development plan
in the Ninth National Economic and
Social Development Plan. The primary
mission of the Bureau is to implement
the innovation for mass education
management in all 12 General Education
Courses offered for full time
bachelor’s degree
students.
Later on under the Royal approval
when Suan Sunandha Rajabhat Institue has
been named as Suan Sunandha Rajabhat
University in 2005, the university
adapted the mission of the Bureau by
limiting the responsibility in terms of
mass education management while
assigning the mission concerning
servicing and supporting the teaching
and learning emphasizing online
instructional strategies and producing
electronic learning medias on
1stJune 2005 with its new
title “Electronic Learning
Center” under the administration
of the Academic Resource and Information
Technology. Its mission includes
servicing Information Technology for the
teaching and learning under the
University’s policy in terms of
information retrieval, research, and the
development of creative instructional
methodologies using new Information
Technology as tools for highest benefit
of all educational stakeholders, for
collaboration among faculty members and
learners in terms of passing on contents
as well as learning experiences to
learners emphasizing the notions of
learner’s based teaching,
technology – based instructions
including the university’s network
learning.
In 2009,
based on the University’s policy,
the “Electronic Learning
Center” is renamed as
“General Education and Electronic
Learning Center” which is under
the administration of the Academic
Resource and Information Technology. Its
mission includes the instructional
management of the general education
courses with online learning consisting
of 30 credits. The curriculum
development project with instructional
management of general education courses,
post-graduate level, academic year 2009
was initiated under the university
internal division called “General
Education and Electronic Learning
Center”. Its objective is to
manage the instruction of general
education courses, post-graduate level,
which are divided into 3 groups, and all
students are required to register to
study not less than 30 credits of these
general education courses. The 3 groups
include 1) Language courses in which
students are required to study not less
than 12 credits, 2) Humanities and
Social Sciences courses in which
students are required to study not less
than 9 credits, and 3) Science and
Technology courses in which students are
required to study not less than 9
credits. That is to say students are
required to study not less than 30
credits of generation education courses
and these courses should cover the
3 groups above.
In 2010, in
reference to the official letter of Suan
Sunandha Rajbhat University entitled the
settlement of internal division
“The Office of General Education
and Innovative Electronic
Learning” endorsed on
25th August 2010 by the
Council of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat
University, the council approved the
settlement of the internal division
based on the Act of Internal
Division Administration, Higher
Education Institution, 2007. Moreover,
under the support of the university
administrators, the collaboration of
faculty members and staff
including the support from the
office’s administrators and all
staff members, the office’s
administration serves the
office’s as well as the
university’s strategies and
plans.
